Sony on Tuesday at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles announced that its PlayStation Suite for mobile devices will be renamed to PlayStation Mobile. Sony initially unveiled the mobile gaming platform and marketplace in January 2011. The Suite allows owners of PlayStation certified devices, such as the Xperia Play, to play various older PlayStation games on their Android smartphones and tablets. During its E3 media event, Sony also announced that it has partnered with HTC
to bring PlayStation Mobile to the Taiwanese vendor’s smartphones,
making it the first non-Sony company to be PlayStation Certified. ”HTC
is focused on delivering innovative mobile experiences for people
everywhere and SCE’s
immersive world of gaming will bring compelling entertainment to HTC
One customers across the globe,” said Kouji Kodera, HTC’s chief product
officer. Read on for Sony’s press release.
